Universal Pictures has just dropped the official trailer for Jurassic World Dominion. The anticipated sequel is finally set to arrive in theaters on June 10 with the movie blending together the main characters of the original Jurassic Park and the Jurassic World films. To catch a peek at what's to come with plenty of new footage, you can watch the brand new trailer below.
The official synopsis for Jurassic World Dominion reads: "Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures."
The film is described as the "epic conclusion to the Jurassic era," uniting two generations for the first time. Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill reprising their classic Jurassic Park roles. They'll have to band together moving forward with the dinosaurs now sharing the planet with humans on the mainland. The film also introduces new dinosaurs to the franchise along with "astonishing new visual effects."
Colin Trevorrow directs Jurassic World Dominion using a screenplay co-written with Emily Carmichael; Derek Connolly contributed to the story. Along with the aforementioned cast members, the film stars Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Daniella Pineda, Campbell Scott, Justice Smith, DeWanda Wise, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Dichen Lachman, and Isabella Sermon.
Jurrassic World Dominion Is the End of an Era, But Not Necessarily the Franchise
In many ways, Jurassic World Dominion is being treated as the end of a story, concluding the Jurassic World trilogy by tying it to the original Jurassic Park films in a big way. That is not to say that there won't be a Jurassic World 4 or other films in the series that can be made in the future. No such plans are in the works at this time, but producer Frank Marshall has suggested that another movie could very well still be happening.
"I think that Dominion's going to wrap up this trilogy, but we're not resting on our laurels," Marshall told /Film. "We're going to sit down, and we're going to see what the future is. We have that wonderful series, Camp Cretaceous, on Netflix. We obviously want to make quality, good movies with great storytelling, great writers and directors, but we're definitely looking to do more in the Jurassic world."
The Jurassic franchise has pulled in more than $5 billion in profits, and there's no reason to expect that Dominion won't do big numbers at the box office, given the fan anticipation. We can be sure Universal would gladly want to keep that gravy train moving, so chances are Dominion won't be the last we'll see of the franchise's dinosaurs on the big screen. But we'll have to wait to see what happens by the end of Dominion to get a good idea of where the story could possibly go next.
