Director James Wan has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood when it comes to horror movies, but his reach has stretched into mainstream blockbusters and more. After recently helping to promote the newest addition to the Saw franchise, it was revealed today that Wan has been hospitalized for the last couple of days after being rushed to the ER in the middle of the night. While there are no details of exactly what led to Wan’s medical emergency, an image from the director’s reels was shared by the Home of DCU account on Twitter, showing Wan in a hospital bed and including a message that was full of praise for the staff of the hospital, and a positive outlook on his condition. The post reads:
Thank you [Cedar Sinai] for taking good care of me.
An additional message added by the director's wife, Ingrid Bisu, elaborated on the image, saying:
“It has been an extremely rough and scary couple of days and nights. You never want to rush to ER in the middle of the night and then have to stay in the hospital. Cedars Sinai is truly the best!! The best doctors, nurses, technicians, just the most wonderful people. James is safe now and on the mend.”
As of now, there has been no further details revealed about what led to Wan’s hospital stay, but needless to say fans have offered their thoughts and prayers for a swift recovery to the director.
James Wan Has A Hand In Some Big Movies Right Now.
James Wan has worked as a writer, producer and director in some of the biggest horror franchises of the last two decades. This year his efforts have included M3gan and Insidious: The Red Door, as well as the upcoming Saw X, The Nun 2 and December’s DC movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Wan recently shared his thoughts on the current state of cinemas, and ho the landscape of the theatrical experience has changed since he started working in the industry. Speaking to Movieweb last month, Wan said:
"I think a lot of it is attributed to how audiences are changing. Younger audiences really gravitate to the horror genre. It's always been popular, and it's always been around, but what I discovered with The Conjuring is if you make a movie people really want to see and it connects with people, it doesn't matter what time of the year you release it. I do think there is an art to releasing a film, but I really think the landscape of cinema has shifted so much in recent years that you can release a horror film in the summer and compete with the big blockbuster films."
Obviously, there are many people hoping that Wan makes a swift recovery, and from the sparse details that have been revealed, it certainly seems like that is thankfully on the cards. No doubt there will be more details shared by the director if he feels it necessary.
