Bug: According to Variety, director William Friedkin has optioned film rights to Tracy Letts' Off Broadway play "Bug," with Letts writing the screenplay for Friedkin to helm.
Friedkin is looking to begin shooting in New Mexico late this year.
"Bug" is a psychological thriller about a shy Gulf War vet and a lonely divorcee who shack up together in a cheap Oklahoma motel room, only to receive unwanted visits from mysterious roaches and the divorcee's paroled ex-husband. No studio is yet involved; no casting has been announced.
Friedkin also plans to helm previously announced Par projects "The Man Who Kept Secrets" and "The Book of Skulls," plus operas in Los Angeles and Israel.
