Not so long now, everyone's favorite web-slinging hero, Spider-Man, sent fans into rapture when all three modern versions of the character appeared on-screen together for the first in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Among them was many fans' favorite, Andrew Garfield, whose familiar wisecracking rendition of Spidey was in great form. The fantastic chemistry between the three iconic actors has since stirred up worldwide nostalgia for the films gone by.

This has led to many people calling for the two previous versions of Spidey to continue their own stories on film. While each had its own unique style, Garfield's Spider-Man often cut a more cocky, sarcastic, but ultimately lovable version in his two Amazing Spider-Man films. While his character arguably endured some of the darkest moments of any, this gave him an opportunity to explore the full range of the character's emotional spectrum.

Andrew Garfield's version, like his counterparts, has had some great lines over the years. These are his best quotes as Spider-Man so far.

10 "I don't carry an ID with me, you know? Kind of defeats the whole anonymous superhero thing."

Seeing the character again on screen when it seemed like his time as the character was done caused a huge stir. Not only was it a moment filled with an awesome premise that now opened the door to countless possibilities, but the scene itself also had some great comedic aspects to it.

When Ned manages to conjure the portal that brings him through, at first he and MJ are skeptical of whether this stranger Spider-Man really was who he claimed to be. They ask him to prove it and go as far as making him climb a wall to display his abilities. This Spider-Man, being well known for his sarcastic humor, drops this line, and in the context of such a tense moment, it lands perfectly to ease the anxiety in the room.

9 "I'm gonna take care of this, so you can go take care of your mom, okay?"

Final scene in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a film that carried a tense and dark undertone, even amid all of Spider-Man's jokes throughout the film. By the end, it all makes sense as the character experiences a heartbreaking loss that almost causes him to quit being Spider-Man altogether.

Thankfully, in the final scene, a little kid's bravery helps him remember that he still has a calling and a purpose. When Paul Giamatti's Rhino shows up at the end and starts rampaging through the city, Spider-Man is initially nowhere to be found.

While the police and terrified citizens watch on in horror, a little boy in a Spidey suit bravely steps forward, believing his suit will imbue him with the strength he needs to take down Rhino himself. Luckily, this moment galvanizes the real Spider-Man into arriving just in time to take over. The final moment as he and Rhino charge at each made for one beautifully shot scene to end the film on a high despite its tragic conclusion.

8 "You gotta let me go."

The Amazing Spider-Man set up some poignant moments between Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy's father. As an NYPD police Captain, he spends most of the film trying to capture and arrest Spider-Man, all the while having Peter Parker dating his daughter. In the closing scenes of the film, The Lizard's master plan sees him headed to Oscorp, while Gwen's there, her life now in danger.

As an injured Spidey rushes to get there, he's pursued and caught by her father and his SWAT unit. There's a tense moment when Captain Stacy unmasks him and realizes that it was Peter all along. Peter explains why he has to get to Oscorp. The woman they both love is in mortal danger, so Captain Stacy has to make an agonizing choice. Of course, like any father would, he chooses to save his daughter and lets Spider-Man go.

This significant line came as a reminder that a very heavy burden has been laid on the shoulders of young Peter Parker ever since he became Spider-Man. While Uncle Ben reminds him that he has a responsibility to help people, his calling to do so also comes with consequences.

Since art often imitates life, these words were important. Just as success in reality often comes with added attention, not all of which will always be positive, so does Spider-Man's reputation as a hero attract villains that want to hurt him for it. Sadly, this also means the people he loves most are never safe from them either.

6 "Are you gonna go into battle dressed as a cool youth pastor?"

Maguire and Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home

His sad and darker moments in the film aside, Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man still found time to drop some hilarious lines in No Way Home too. This one was a perfect example of how this Spider-Man was often defined by his snarky, but very funny sense of humor. As all the Spider-Mans gather and get ready to execute their plan, there's a noticeable difference in their ages and dress sense as Spider-Man 2 (Tobey Maguire) cuts an older, more conservative figure than his younger counterparts.

This wasn't a bad thing, since this also gave him the aura of being the OG Spider-Man among them and the icon who also seemed to have the wisest head too. However, none of that stopped this line from landing hilariously since the overall look of his outfit was perfectly summed up by it.

5 "Please, please, PLEASE go to sleep."

Sally Field in The Amazing Spider-Man
Sony Pictures Releasing

This scene made for a pretty sad one given the underlying issues at play. It came after Uncle Ben had already been killed and Peter and Aunt May were both struggling to deal with his loss. For Peter, this is an especially trying time since he's trying to deal with it all in addition to his secret crime-fighting nightlife. When he arrives home late yet again, all scuffed and looking like a train wreck, Aunt May tries to confront him about what he's been getting up to.

This comes at a moment when he's so physically and emotionally exhausted, he has no energy to deal with it. It hurts him deeply knowing that she's also in a lot of pain and that he's forced to keep secrets from her. The exasperation in his tone as he begs her to go to sleep conveys all of this in the scene, and makes it one that brilliantly humanizes the character and shows the great burdens that everyone has to carry sometimes, even superheroes.

4 "You're my path, and you're always gonna be my path."

Garfield and Stone in Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony Pictures Releasing

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man is led down a torturous mental journey as he's caught between wanting to stay with the woman he loves and honoring the promise he made to her father that he'd let her go. Of course, this emotional wrestling match he has with himself has some dire importance as it ultimately builds up to the tragic conclusion of the film.

Sadly, Peter of course doesn't know this earlier in the film. After initially making the decision to honor Captain Stacy's wish, he walks away from Gwen Stacy. However, his love for her means he never manages to stick to the decision, and he pursues her again. Lines like these convey his agonizing belief that they were meant to be together. Unfortunately, her death later proves just how wrong he was.

3 "I love you guys!"

As the three Spider-Men got ready to work as a team and take down their opponents together, Spider-Man 3 (Garfield) has a sweet moment where he blurts out, "I love you guys!" to the other two. His sentiment is well intended, but it also causes an awkward moment between them. However, lines like this one, and others like "I'm lame," were likely great Easter egg lines thrown in for fans.

While Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man does have his own legion of loyal fans who believe he is the best Spider-Man, his rendition of the character also sometimes gets the least love. With Tom Holland's fresh take having all the coolness of the MCU behind him, and Tobey Maguire being the icon who brought the character back to film for the first time in two decades, Garfield's character often gets treated like something of a middle child. However, his sweet moments like this one remind us why he's always been very endearing as the character.

2 "Are you okay?"

Garfield and Zendaya in Spiderman No Way Home
Sony Pictures Releasing

After the tragic end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man three has an amazing moment in No Way Home where he manages to find redemption. In Andrew Garfield's two films, his Peter Parker falls in love with Gwen Stacy in that universe, and he never meets his own MJ.

Of course, being another origin story, early issues of the Spider-Man comics never had an MJ, so it made sense to leave her out in favor of Gwen Stacy this time. Though Shailene Woodley was meant to play MJ and had even filmed some scenes in the second film. These were edited out and The Amazing Spider-Man series never had a third film.

In No Way Home, when Tom Holland's MJ is knocked off the Statue of Liberty and Spidey one can't get to her in time, Spider-Man three leaps after her. Unlike in his own universe, he manages to save the girl this time. It's a beautiful moment as he asks if she's okay.

What makes it even better, is when MJ asks back, "Are you okay?" when she sees the anguished looks on his face. At that moment, we feel his tortured emotions and the bitter-sweet moment as he feels elation for saving MJ, but also pain for the memory of the girl he never got to save.

1 "You're okay. Stay with me! Stay with me!"

Garfield and Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony Pictures Releasing

The poignant moment from No Way Home only had that effect because of the tragic end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In that film, Spider-Man's choice to stay with Gwen Stacy ultimately ends up leaving him a tortured person when he isn't able to save her after she falls from a building.

The scene is an agonizing one since he does manage to stick her with a web before she hits the ground. However, the violent force of stopping her momentum, so suddenly, inches from the ground, causes her head and neck to snap backward, ultimately killing her.

It's a devastating moment for the character as he cradles the body of the woman he loves in his arms, at first willing her to still be okay, before he agonizingly says, "Stay with me!" over and over until it truly dawns on him that she's really gone. A tragic ending, this quote remains his saddest, but also one of the most significant moments in the character's arc.
