That's a wrap for Alec Baldwin on the Western movie Rust. Back in October 2021, the production was paused when a tragic accident on the New Mexico set left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and director Joel Souza wounded. Hutchins' widower has since joined the project as an executive producer, giving Baldwin and the filmmakers his blessing to finish the movie in honor of his wife's memory. Production moved to Montana and has been underway in recent weeks, and a new photo posted to Instagram by Baldwin from the set announces that he's done shooting scenes for the film.

"Last day on the set of RUST with this guy," Baldwin writes in the caption of the photo, which shows the actor alongside his young co-star, Patrick Scott McDermott. "A very talented actor and lovely young man with a bright future ahead. My love to you, [Patrick Scott McDermott]."

Another image shared by the actor reveals Baldwin relaxing after a fresh shave. He says in the caption of that post, "God, it felt good to shave off that beard..."

McDermott also shared an image from the set to his Instagram Stories. The photo showed the two embracing and saying their goodbyes on Baldwin's last day of filming. McDermott also wrote on the image, "Alec's last day. I'll miss you."

Rust resumed filming last month after moving to a new set in Montana. It was reported then that Bianca Cline would serve as cinematographer for the rest of the production and that she'd be donating her salary to charity. Director Joel Souza and the filmmakers have said that they're seeking to "complete Halyna's vision for the film" by completing Rust.

"Though bittersweet, I am grateful that a brilliant and dedicated new production team joining former cast and crew are committed to completing what Halyna and I started," the director said in a statement. "My every effort on this film will be devoted to honoring Halyna's legacy and making her proud. It is a privilege to see this through on her behalf."

As a Western, completing the film meant continuing to work with prop firearms, but it was announced that any working weapons or live ammunition are completely banned from the set. That's something that's also been happening with many other television and movie productions, and while that was expected to be the case here, the filmmakers wanted to be sure that information was known.

"Live ammunition is — and always was — prohibited on set," attorney Melinsa Spadone said when production resumed. "Each and every one of us is wholeheartedly dedicated to realizing Halyna’s vision and paying tribute to her artistry."

Rust stars Baldwin as an aging outlaw who comes out of hiding to rescue his teenage grandson (Patrick Scott McDermott) from being hanged over an accidental killing. To survive, the two must avoid a vigilant U.S. Marshal (Jensen Ackles) and a skilled bounty hunter (Travis Fimmel), both of whom are hot on their tail.

Rust does not yet have a release date.
