The highly anticipated Disney+ series Ahsoka is set to feature Rosario Dawson reprising her role as the character, Ahsoka Tano. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dawson shared some insights into her experience on the set of the Star Wars project. She mentioned that the atmosphere during filming was somewhat "weird", possibly due to the immense scale of the production and the secrecy surrounding the show's plot. Despite being a key player in the series, Dawson confessed that she was not fully informed about all the details, as the creators were determined to keep everything under wraps. She said:
"So I haven’t seen anything of Ahsoka either, but that’s not surprising. It’s a very weird project to be a part of, as it’s one of the biggest things, so they’re like, 'See nothing, say nothing.' But Dave had it down, and the different directors kept that connection."
One of the most exciting aspects of the Ahsoka trailer was the introduction of several major characters set to join the show. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will portray Hera Syndulla, a character well-known to Star Wars fans from her appearance in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, while Genevieve O'Reilly will take on the role of Mon Mothma, a key figure in the Rebellion. Among them, the appearance of Thrawn, a character originally introduced in the Star Wars expanded universe, stood out prominently. Thrawn's enigmatic personality and strategic brilliance have earned him a dedicated fan following over the years. Having been revitalized by Dave Filoni in the Star Wars: Rebels animated series, Thrawn's return to canon opens up new possibilities for the character to make a lasting impact on lore once again.
What To Expect From Ahsoka
Ahsoka centers around Sabine Wren, Ahsoka Tano, and Hera Syndulla, forming a trio of strong and dynamic heroines. They lead the way in a quest, where Ahsoka's mission is to track down General Thrawn and rescue the long-lost Ezra Bridger. Set against the backdrop of the intense Lothal conflict, the show weaves a tale of struggle for freedom in the galaxy. Natasha Liu Bordizzo takes on the role of Sabine Wren in the show. In a previous interview, Bordizzo revealed that the show's timeline runs parallel to the events of The Mandalorian season 3, indicating a significant connection between the two series.
"Ahsoka runs along the same timeline as The Mandalorian season 3, and the shows are all connected. There's just so many parallels."
Executive producer Carrie Beck also previously has shared details about the show's direction, affirming that Ahsoka can be considered the fifth season of Star Wars Rebels. This decision ensures continuity and expands upon the rich story arcs that fans have grown to love. With the show helmed by the creative minds of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, fans can expect an engaging and seamless continuation of the Star Wars saga. Ahsoka is set to release on Disney+ on August 23.
