Out of many post-apocalyptic sci-fi TV shows out there today, The 100 cast had one of the best ensembles of actors that could ever exist. It was a series on The CW, which premiered in 2014 and ran for seven seasons.
It was based on the series of novels of the same name by Kass Morgan and follows the story of a group of post-apocalyptic survivors, who return to Earth after a devastating event wiped out everything as we know it today nearly a century ago. They meet other survivors of the nuclear disaster who grew up on Earth. Here are the characters you need to know if you want to start watching the series.
20 Kelly Hu as Callie “Cece” Cartwig
Callie "Cece" Cartwig (Kelly Hu) was a main character in the first season. She was Abby's best friend and an officer of the Ark. When they were going to execute her friend, Cece intervened and helped prevent it with Jaha's help. But it is later revealed that she was "floated" (executed), although it is never revealed exactly why.
The actress has been active since the 1980s, and has appeared in multiple series. Among them are Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She also lent her voice to Stacy in Phineas and Ferb and was in X-Men 2.
19 Eli Goree as Wells Jaha
Eli Goree brings Wells Jaha to life on The 100. He was a main character in the first season and was the son of Thelonious Jaha. He ends up going as one of the original 100 when he learns that people are being sent to Earth, including Clarke, who he was in love with since childhood. He ends up being killed by Charlotte as revenge on the Ark.
Goree has participated in other productions, such as Da Kink in My Hair, Riverdale, and Dead of Summer. Recently, he was Cassius Clay in One Night in Miami.
18 Chuku Modu as Gabriel Santiago
Gabriel Santiago is played by Chuku Mudu. The character was introduced in Season 6 as a recurring character, and in Season 7 as the main character. This character was at first a member of Mission Team Alpha but ends up defecting to form his own cult and defeat them. During the events of the Anomaly and briefly joining the Disciples, he is wounded by Sheidheda and dies.
Mudu has played other roles in several series, such as Dr. Jared Kalu in The Good Doctor and Aggo in Game of Thrones. He also played Soh-Larr in Captain Marvel.
17 Ricky Whittle as Lincoln
Ricky Whittle plays Lincoln, being a recurring character in the first season and a main character in Seasons 2 and 3. He is a Grounder and develops a romance with Octavia. Because he helps the main characters, he is considered a traitor by his people. He dies at the hands of Pike by a gunshot.
Whittle is also recognized for having participated in projects such as American Gods and Single Ladies. The roles that catapulted his success were his parts in Dream Team and Hollyoaks.
16 Zach McGowan as Roan
Roan is played by Zach McGowan, appearing as a recurring character in the third season and becoming a main character in the fourth season. This character was the son of Queen Nia of Azgeda, and was exiled after joining the Coalition. He ends up becoming a bounty hunter, and then the King of the Ice Nation. Having joined Clarke and becoming responsible for the Flame, he dies being killed by Luna.
McGowan enjoys an incredible trajectory for his 15 years of activity. He has participated in series such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and CSI: Miami. He was also in Terminator Salvation, The Brawler, and Cold Case.
15 Shannon Kook as Jordan Green
Jordan Green is played by Shannon Kook. The character first appears in the fifth season and becomes a main character in the sixth. He was raised by his parents on Eliguis IV, and when he settles in Sanctum, he becomes a Faithful. After being expelled from this group by Clarke, he embarks on a mission to rescue his missing friends and after Transcendence, he decides to live as a human.
Kook has participated in other projects. Among them are Degrassi: The Next Generation, Carmilla, Nancy Drew, and The Conjuring Universe.
14 Devon Bostik as Jasper Jordan
Devon Bostik plays Jasper Jordan, who was a main character from the first through the fourth seasons. He was part of the original 100 sent to Earth and was best friends with Monty Green. He became one of the top criminals and joins the Sky People to fight ALIE. Jasper dies by his own choice by committing suicide with an overdose of hallucinogenic nut tea on Arkadia, thinking that everyone was going to die in the nuclear apocalypse.
Bostik has participated in other projects like I Am the Night and in Being Erica. Most recently, he played Seth Neddermeyer in Oppenheimer.
13 Christopher Larkin as Monty Green
Christopher Larkin brings Monty Green to life on The 100 from Season 1 through Season 5. He was part of the original 100 and then helps Griffin and Bellamy to kill the residents of Mount Weather, who had captured him. He then joins Pike and ends up defecting from his side and fights ALIE. When they all take refuge in the Eliguis IV and enter cryosleep, Monty stays up with Harper to take care of them, having Jordan, his son, and dying of old age.
Larkin in his career has participated in several series. Among them are The Orville, Tales of the City, and Squad 85.
12 Shelby Flannery as Hope Diyoza
Shelby Flannery plays Hope Diyoza on The 100, which is a character that was introduced in Season 5 but became a main character in Season 7. Initially, her plot revolved a lot around her pregnancy. Then, important details about her past are revealed, including her upbringing with her mother, and she ends up losing her memory when she crosses the Anomaly, though she regains it. She survives to Transcendence and chooses to live as a human.
Flannery is known for making brief appearances in crime series such as FBI: Most Wanted and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
11 Thomas McDonell as Finn Collins
Thomas McDonell brings Finn Collins to life in the first and second seasons of the series. He was part of the original 100 and was Raven's boyfriend, although he had a brief relationship with Clarke. He survives the battle against the Grounders, and after being taken to Camp Jaha, he becomes a darker character. He dies at the hands of Clarke, who kills him out of mercy after the Grounders' leader wanted him to be turned in to make him pay for the death of 18 Grounders.
McDonell is recognized for having participated in other projects besides The CW series. He was also in Suburgatory, LA to Vegas, Good Girls, and recently in Simchas and Sorrows.
10 Isaiah Washington as Thelonious Jaha
Thelonious Jaha was a main character from the first to the fifth seasons and was played by Isaiah Washington. He was chancellor of the Ark, and when he escapes to Earth, he was captured by the Grounders to escape and ally with the ALIE. Later, with the help of Bellamy and Clarke, he finds a bunker and stays in it during the radioactive death wave and then dies at the hands of Kara Cooper when he helps the Wonkru.
Washington is known for having participated in multiple projects, among them as Dr. Preston Burke in Grey's Anatomy. He also participated in series such as Law & Order and High Incident, as well as films such as Blackbird and Blue Caprice.
9 Henry Ian Cusick as Marcus Kane
Henry Ian Cusick gives life to Marcus Kane in the series, a main character from Season 1 to Season 6. Likewise, this character was also played in a couple of episodes by Greyston Holt. He was an advisor to the Ark and was allied with the Griffins. When Pike was elected chancellor, he leads a rebellion against it, with Kane becoming the new chancellor. During the Battle for Eden, he is seriously wounded and falls into a coma, and when he gets his new host body, he dies.
Cusick has participated in many other projects, such as Lost, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award. He was also in The Gospel of John, The Passage, MacGyver, Big Sky, and Scandal.
8 Lindsey Morgan as Raven Reyes
Raven Reyes is played by Lindsey Morgan. This character was a recurring figure in the first season and a main character from the second to the seventh seasons. She is an expert in mechanics and explosives and helps the Griffins on Earth. She had joined ALIE, then turns against them, then stays on the Eligius IV. She ends up helping the protagonists in their fight against Sheidheda, and in the end, in Transcendence, she decides to live her life as a human.
Morgan has participated in multiple projects, such as General Hospital and Destroy the Alpha Gammas. Recently, she was part of the main cast of Walker.
7 Richard Harmon as John Murphy
Richard Harmon plays John Murphy on The 100 and appears in every season, becoming a main character starting in the third season. He goes from villain to hero in the story, first being sent to Earth as one of the 100 juvenile delinquents and ends up fighting the Grounders. He had a temporary relationship with Emori and also helped defeat ALIE. He joins Clarke and his friends to save the people of Sanctum, and in Transcendence decides to live as a human.
Harmon has participated in series such as Riese: Kingdom Falling, Tower Prep, The Flash, and The Killing. As for movies, he acted in A Cinderella Story: Starstruck, Crypto, and School of Life.
6 Tasya Teles as Echo/Ash
Tasya Teles plays Echo (born Ash) since the second season of The 100, although she becomes a main character from the fifth season onwards. At first, Echo was on Azgeda's royal guard and then ends up aboard the Go-Sci Ring. Subsequently, she returns to Earth and ends up embarking on a mission to rescue her friends from the Disciples, and suffering Bellamy's betrayal. She manages to reach Transcendence and decides to live as a human.
Teles has participated in other series, such as Shoresy in the main cast and in Supernatural and Rush as a guest star. She also appears in Rogue and Intruders.
5 JR Bourne as Russell Lightbourne/Malachi/Sheidheda
JR Bourne plays first Russell Lightbourne and then Sheidheda (Malachi) as a recurring character in the sixth season, becoming a main character in the seventh season. Russell (being played in some scenes by Sean Maguire) was the leader of the Sanctum settlement. He is then killed by Sheidheda (who was being played by Dakota Daulby), and the latter is resurrected in Russell's body, impersonating him for a while. He ends up becoming the main antagonist of the series and is killed by Indra, never to be revived.
JR Bourne is known to have been present in other projects such as Somewhere Between, Revenge, Teen Wolf: The Movie, and The Butterfly Effect 2.
4 Bob Morley as Bellamy Blake
Bob Morley is played Bellamy Blake from the first to the last season of the series. He was Octavia's brother, and the leader of the criminals who were sent to Earth, but ends up sharing the position with Clarke. He fought against the Mountain Men and becomes a guard of Arkadia. He survived the defeat of Pike and ALIE, and fights against the Primes. He dies at the hands of Clarke when he gives his allegiance to the Disciples and fails to transcend.
Morley has participated in multiple productions, such as Home and Away and The Strip, being part of the main cast. Likewise, he was also in series such as Neighbours, It Takes Two, and was recently in Love Me.
3 Marie Avgeropoulos as Octavia Blake
Octavia Blake is played by Marie Avgeropoulos from the first season to the last. She was sent to Earth as part of the original 100 and is an expert in medical techniques. She was Lincoln's lover and was closely associated with the Grounders. She survives before the Final Conclave and becomes the ruthless Blodreina as she leads the Wonkru. She ends up being exiled by her brother from Sanctum, and during the Anomaly regrets her actions. In the Transcendence, Octavia chooses to live as a human.
Avgeropoulos has participated in other projects, such as Cult, The Inbetweeners, Fringe, and Supernatural. She has also been in the films Numb and Tracers. She is currently working on the Butterfly in the Typewriter.
2 Paige Turco as Abigail “Abby” Griffin
Abby Griffin was played by Paige Turco from the first to the sixth seasons. She was a former member of the Ark Council and was monitoring the original 100, where her daughter, who was a rebel, was sent. She maintains a relationship with Marcus Kane and then is turned into Nightblod to protect Madi. She dies when Lightbourne takes over her mind to make her body host Simone, his wife. She is then floated by Clarke and ends up with her body.
Turco has participated in series such as The Agency, American Gothic, and Party of Five. However, her most popular role was that of April O'Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II and III.
1 Eliza Taylor as Clarke Griffin
Clarke Griffin, played by Eliza Taylor, is the leading role from the first to the seventh season. She was part of the original 100 who were sent to Earth, and after being captured by the Mountain Men, she fought against the Grounders. She fights ALIE, and after the events of the nuclear apocalypse, she takes care of Madi.
She took refuge on Eiliguis IV, was cryogenized for 125 years, and came down to Earth again to explore Sanctum. Clarke also survived the battle against the Primes, losing Abby, her mother, in the process. Finally, during Transcendence, she is condemned to live as a human for her sins so that her people would survive, and her friends decide to join her. Although Clarke has an affair with Finn and then with Lexa, she does not end up in a romantic relationship in the finale.
Taylor was present in the series of Blue Heelers, The Orville, All Saints, and Rush. Although, her most important roles are those of Neighbours, Pirate Islands, and, of course, Clarke from The 100, which is the role that catapulted her to fame.
