The ending of Liv and Maddie was well received by the audience and gave a pretty good conclusion to each of the Rooney family members. First, all of the family members must pack up to return to Wisconsin, but then each is presented with a series of events, which cause the plans to become complicated.

Liv ends up traveling to New York the next day, due to being accepted to play the lead role in a Broadway musical while Maddie must travel to New Orleans the next day also for her grant to build mini houses. On the other hand, Joey must attend a Jim Breuer summer tour, while Parker was transferred to Bolivia for his Mars exploration training. Thus, neither of the Rooney brothers will be able to be with their mother for the summer nor will they be able to return to Wisconsin.

Dove Cameron has always acknowledged that Liv and Maddie was a beautiful project, one that grew her career, and one that she enjoyed with her co-stars. Plus, her flawless work was always observed through the screen from start to finish. However, her role in the series was particularly difficult and busy for her, as the actress had to play two roles at the same time. In fact, Cameron almost quit the series in 2016 for the same reason.

She confessed that playing the twins was absorbing for her lifestyle because she had to film twice as much as the rest of her co-stars. Many other times, she had to go on weekends to continue recording, because there wasn't enough time to do the whole job in the five working days. In addition, she experienced a lot of fatigue, problems with sleep, and also with balancing her work life with her social life.
