The season 7 trailer for the CW's Riverdale has dropped, and from the looks of it Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will be fighting an uphill battle. As season six came to a close, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) used her powers to defeat a deadly comet, but this caused the town to travel back in time to 1955. Just another day in Riverdale, right? According to the trailer, which you can watch below, Jughead is the only one who remembers what's happened and is trying to convince the group that they should find their way back to the future. That won't be easy, as we hear Archie (KJ Apa) question why they would want to go back.

Aside from the new time setting, the trailer also provides us with a sneak peek at some odd romantic pairings. Although Kevin (Casey Scott) is seen exchanging glances with a boy at a dance, he's couple up with Betty (Lili Reinhart), who is doing her best to seduce him; Cheryl and Archie seem to be headed down the aisle; and a makeout session between Veronica (Camila Mendes), who is now a big Hollywood star, and Jughead is previewed. Confusing as it may all sound, it wouldn't be Riverdale without some chaos and mystery.

The seventh and final season of Riverdale premieres Wednesday, Mar. 29 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. It is available for streaming the next day on The CW app and website. The series' finale episode will air on August 23. Apa, Reinhart, Mendes, Sprouse, Petsch and Scott, are joined by Charles Melton as Reggie Mantle, Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz, Erin Westbrook as Tabitha Tate and Drew Ray Tanner as Fangs Fogarty for the series' concluding season.

The Cw

Riverdale was created and adapted for television by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. It is based on the characters from Archie Comics, which became popular throughout the 1940s, and named after their fictional town. However, Riverdale, full of chaos, mystery and deceit, is a far cry from the wholesome storylines featured in the popular comics. The series launched two spinoffs: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Katy Keene. Additionally, Aguirre-Sacasa, the showrunner for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, confirmed that the series and Riverdale are part of the same universe, after a reference to the town was made during an episode of Original Sin.

Upon Riverdale's launch in 2017, the series proved to be a great success for the network, with its popularity increasing worldwide when it became available to stream on Netflix. News of the series' final season made headlines in May.
