As reported by PEOPLE, star Jamie Lee Curtis recently opened up about joining The Bear for its second season and called part in the Hulu series "the role of a lifetime." As noted by the outlet, Sunday on Instragram, the Everything Everywhere All at Once star reflected on her character in the second season of the comedy-drama and revealed how she ended up being a part of the Hulu show.
On The Bear, Curtis plays the mother of Carmen (played by Jeremy Allen White), Sugar (played by Abby Elliot), and Mikey Berzatto (played by Jon Bernthal). The popular series released its second season last week on June 22nd.
The Bear follows Carmen, a bright young chef who is forced to return home to Chicago after a family tragedy.
In her caption, Curtis wrote, "The secrets [sic] is out. We all have them. Every family. Every human being. The center of the brilliant masterpiece that is commonly referred to as @thebearfx is the story of family secrets and the concentric circles of rage and trauma and grief and humor that revolve around Carmen, Sugar and Michael Berzatto."
The Halloween star went on to reveal that she knew she would be connected to the series after she watched the first episode of The Bear.
Jamie Lee Curtis Said That She "Just Knew" She'd Play Donna Berzatto on The Bear
Curtis went on to say, "When I saw the first episode last summer and Sugar asks Carmen if he had spoken to their mother, in that second I knew that I would play her. Don't ask me how. I just knew. A year later, after the wild success of the brilliant first season, Chris Storer offered me the role of a lifetime."
The Oscar-winning actor then addressed the reliability of her character, noting that everybody knows a person like Donna.
She wrote, "There's not a person alive who won't relate to what it feels like to be around someone like Donna Berzatto. I certainly have my own experiences. That's what makes the show so magnificent. We can relate and commiserate and celebrate all of our communal survival in this thing called.... life."
She finished the post by saying, "Thank you Chris and the ENTIRE BEAR family of creative human beings and scene partners for allowing me in to let it rip!"
In response to the star's post, Curtis's fans offer their own praise for the actor.
One fan wrote, "I am not exaggerating when I say your performance is the best I have ever seen. Period. Freaking fabulous,"

Since it first premiered last June, the Hulu show has received plenty of positive feedback from critics and fans of the series. Even celebrities like Mindy Kaling have declared their love for The Bear, and some fans have even attempted to recreate some of the dishes from the Hulu series.
White's work on The Bear ended up earning the actor a Golden Globe at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards back in January. While giving his acceptance speech, White said, "My cast and crew, if I'm good, it is because you are good so thank you, thank you so much. You've changed my life. I am incredibly, incredibly, grateful."
