Is post-apocalyptic Paris ready for Daryl Dixon? Norman Reedus returns as the fan-favorite survivor from The Walking Dead in one of the show's upcoming spin-off series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. However, the crossbow-wielding hero is a long way from home. But in the latest teaser for the AMC and AMC+ show, Daryl provides some insight into how he ended up in France.

Check out the new footage titled Daryl’s Journey below, courtesy of The Walking Dead:

“How did you come to be in France?” Clémence Poésy’s character Isabelle asks in the teaser. As the voiceover resonates, Daryl saunters toward what appears to be a graveyard among the thick brush. Dozens of cross-shaped markers stare down the fish-out-of-water as he approaches. “A bunch of bad decisions,” Daryl explains how he arrived overseas to Isabelle.

Isabelle replies:

“Maybe we’re the same that way.”

As the footage continues, Daryl lumbers along the tracks now belonging to rusting and ruined trains littering the area. Another shot reveals a damaged Eiffel Tower haunting the skyline from the perspective of someone traveling far below the once statuesque structure. Next, actor Romain Levi’s new character, Cordon, approaches with a heavily armed detachment of three soldiers following behind him.

The latest teaser for The Walking Dead spin-off Daryl Dixon reveals that a series of "bad decisions" led the show’s titular star (Reedus) — a former member of Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) group — to France. And audiences can catch a glimpse of Romain Levi’s character Cordon at the 19-second mark of the new footage. And the actor made it crystal clear that Cordon will be an antagonist standing in Daryl’s way.

Levi discussed his character in a video released courtesy of The Walking Dead:

“I play Cordon. He’s a French soldier for [a] political movement called The Cause. And what I really love with Cordon is the fact that he doesn’t give up. I like this thing about him. Definitely, he will be seen as a villain — yeah.”

At the 20-second mark, actor Eriq Ebouaney’s character Fallou clasps hands with Daryl in camaraderie, which reinforces the notion that the two survivors will most likely be allies. And lastly, Laurent — who is portrayed by Louis Puech Scigliuzzi — appears to be staring up at the marred Eiffel Tower. That’s the way the teaser footage is cut together, anyway, but Laurent could really be staring at the world’s largest ball of twine for all fans know.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premieres Sunday, September 10, and the series can be seen on AMC and AMC+.
