Recent reports (via known scooper Daniel RPK and CBR) have claimed that Margarita Levieva has been cast to play Heather Glenn, Matt “Daredevil” Murdock’s love interest, in the new MCU series, Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. Levieva is a Russian-American actress mostly known for her recurring roles in The Blacklist (2013-2016), The Deuce (2017-2019), and Netflix’s Crime Thriller series In From The Cold (2022), which was watched for 85 million hours worldwide in its first 16 days on the platform.
In addition to her rumored role as Heather Glenn, Levieva is set to play a guest role in the Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, later next year. Marvel has yet to officially confirm Levieva’s casting, so consider this a mere rumor for now.
While details about the show remain hidden, fans speculate that the Daredevil: Born Again series will have 18 episodes and follow the Mayor Fisk story arc, created in 2017 by comic artist Charles Soule, which finds Daredevil’s primary antagonist, Wilson Fisk, elected as New York City’s mayor. With his mayoral power, Fisk declared Daredevil, a public enemy and orders the city’s police force to capture him.
Daredevil fans also speculate that the series will heavily feature elements of a courtroom drama series due to the chapter where Matt Murdock takes a case to the Supreme Court about heroes having a right to serve as witnesses in court. Additionally, before becoming a comic artist, Soule practiced transactional, corporate, and immigration law at his New York law firm. As a result of his law education, the influences are most likely to appear in the series. Soule has also written other stories such as Star Wars: Light of the Jedi, She-Hulk, and Death of Wolverine.
Heather Glenn's Role In the Daredevil Saga
As for Heather Glenn’s role in the story, she is a socialite who helps Matt Murdock fund his “Legal Storefront Clinic” with the help of her father and president of Glenn Industries, Maxwell Glenn. Her father dies by suicide after being framed for a criminal conspiracy, leading Heather to abuse alcohol and end the relationship between her and Murdock. Tragically, Glenn later also loses her life to suicide after learning Murdock’s secret identity.
Jack McBryan, the co-founder of The Direct, reported that the series will most likely continue from the Netflix series. "I have heard about a plot element in Born Again that directly refers to something that happened in Season 1 of Daredevil. Not like a surface level general DD thing, but a very specific event that happened in Season 1. Things are looking good for the canon crowd," explained McBryan.
However, a few actors are rumored not to return to their roles, like Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page."People keep asking me about Daredevil: Born Again. I tell them the same thing: Disney knows how to reach me," said Dawson.
Daredevil: Born Again is expected to release on Disney+ next year.
