Summary

  • Vanessa Kirby is "95%" confirmed to play Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman, in the Fantastic Four reboot.
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach has likely been cast in the Fantastic Four reboot, but not as the obvious choice of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
  • The inclusion of Galactus as the main villain in the film suggests that The Silver Surfer could also make an appearance.

Another day, another bunch of Marvel rumors. This time, they center around the long-awaited casting of the superhero family the Fantastic Four, with known scoopers John Rocha and Jeff Sneider revealing that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One star Vanessa Kirby is "95%" confirmed to be playing Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman, with Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn around “80-90%” confirmed to be playing her brother Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch.

During the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Rocha and Sneider also revealed whispers that The Bear star Ebon Moss-Bachrach has also been cast the MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot. However, while expertly playing grumpy and tortured in the Hulu series, they add that he has not been cast in the more obvious role of Ben Grimm aka The Thing.

Continuing, Sneider reveals that Marvel are after a "fat white guy" to play The Thing, with the pair then theorizing that Moss-Bachrach could be playing either Doctor Doom or The Silver Surfer. Further rumors have claimed that the planet-eating cosmic entity Galactus will feature as the main villain of the piece, suggesting that beloved character and Galactus’ herald The Silver Surfer could also make an appearance.

“But I, you know, do I think it’s possible Ebon Moss-Bachrach could be cast as Dr Doom,” Sneider said of Moss-Bachrach's casting. “Um, but he’s only in you know in like the last at the end of the movie basically.”

Snieder continued, proposing how the star The Bear could work as The Silver Surfer. “But here’s the possibility that I think that that exists with Ebon Moss-Bachrach okay what if he’s playing Silver Surfer?” Sneider says of the possibility. “I think that that is perhaps more likely.”

Rocha then added his two cents saying, “We remember Silver Surfer for those who are Marvel Comics readers he is a tortured soul in service of Galactus,” Rocha said. “So Evan has played torture characters through a lot of his career."

He continued, “So that’s the second fit. Oh, that’s second-hand to him as an actor. So, that’s an interesting choice I would like to see that actually what a nice challenge for, for Ebon Moss-Bachrach. And clearly, if Silver Surfer is going to be a part of this, um, that’s gonna, uh, lead us to Galactus which will make it, this film a massive film at this point if you’re talking Fantastic Four.”

The MCU reboot of Fantastic Four was officially confirmed back in December 2020. Since then, fans have been waiting as patiently as possible for further updates, most notably the cast, with the likes of Star Wars actor Adam Driver and You star Penn Badgely being rumored for the role of leader Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic, while the likes of Killing Eve star Jodie Comer has been hotly rumored for the role of The Invisible Woman Margot Robbie alongside Vanessa Kirby.

At present, none of this has been confirmed by Marvel or Disney, but hopefully we are getting closer to finding out which ensemble will take on the roles of the Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four is currently scheduled for release on May 2, 2025.
