The final on-screen appearance of the late, great Power Rangers star Jason David Frank, Legend of the White Dragon, gets a new trailer and shows off the actor and martial artist as the titular superhero. Debuting during this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con (via Bat in the Sun), the newly released trailer also reveals that Legend of the White Dragon will land in theaters in 2024. Legend of the White Dragon follows Jason David Frank as Erik Reed aka the White Dragon – who, after losing an epic battle with the ancient overlord, Ashtagor, is blamed for the decimation of the city and the tragic loss of innocent lives during the conflict. After his secret identity is revealed, Erik is forced to flee Virtuo City, and live the solitary existence of a fugitive, remaining at large for over three years.
Tortured by the separation from his family, and the guilt he carries from the loss of innocent lives in battle, Erik returns to Virtuo City, only to discover that a new threat has arisen–Dragon Prime, a mysterious dark force, possessed by the desire to seek revenge on Reed for his actions. To clear his name, protect his family and defeat an ancient evil – Reed has only one option… to become The White Dragon once again.
Directed by Aaron Schoenke, Legend of the White Dragon has been realized thanks to a passionate Kickstarter campaign, and stars Jason David Frank, Aaron Schoenke, Chalet Lizette Brannan, Mayling Ng, Mark Dacascos, Cerina Vincent, and Michael Madsen.
Jason David Frank Sadly Passed Away in 2022
Legend of the White Dragon is the final role of actor and martial artist Jason David Frank, who sadly passed away in November 2022 due to suicide. Best recognized for his long-running role as Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise, the Legend of the White Dragon panel at SDCC paid tribute to Frank with director and Aaron Schoenke revealing that the movie will land in theaters in early 2024 and that reshoots are currently underway.
“We are proud to have worked with such a talented actor, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share his final performance with the world,” Legend of the White Dragon director Aaron Schoenke has said of working with the late actor. “Having been on this journey with Jason for 10 years, I know he would be beyond excited to know that LEGEND OF THE WHITE DRAGON will be opening in theaters.”
“We are honored to be helping to bring the last film of such a talented artist to worldwide audiences,” Falling Forward Films’ Scott Kennedy, who will release Legend of the White Dragon in theaters said previously of the project. “We hope that fans of Jason David Frank will love to see the collaboration of so many celebrated actors together in LEGEND OF THE WHITE DRAGON.
Legend of the White Dragon is now scheduled to be released in theaters in 2024.
