Final Destination has become one of the most popular franchises from the world horror, even when not everything has gone as originally planned, since according to the saga creator he couldn't always do what he wanted with the movies.

First premiering in 2000, the original Final Destination movie starred Devon Sawa as Alex Browning, a young man who has a terrifying vision about how everyone on a plane is going to die before it actually happens. As he and some other passengers left the plane after he revealed what he saw, only part of the people inside of it died, so Death It's determined to finish her job and goes after the ones who have survived.

The same premise is adapted to every upcoming movie, with the second one taking place one year after the events of the first one, when college student Kimberly is traveling to Florida Beach for her holidays. However, while stuck in the traffic on the road, she has a vision about a terrible accident that starts with some logs falling from a truck. Once again, she and some others manage to survive, but Death needs to finish her job.

When Kimberly realizes that Death is going after her, she contacts Clear, the character played by Ali Larter on the first movie to help her understand what's happening and why everyone is suddenly dying. But it seems that it wasn't Clear the one who was going to pass on her experience to Kimberly.

Jeffrey Reddick Wanted Devon to Return for Final Destination 2

While speaking with Collider, Final Destination original creator Jeffrey Reddick revealed that Clear was the one who he wanted to be dead on the second film, and for Kimberly to get in touch with Devon to ask for his help:

"I wanted to bring both Alex and Clear back. There were some issues with scheduling and stuff with getting Devon Sawa back, and I got annoyed how they just killed him off with a brick, which I thought was a big F you. That's really my only complaint with Final Destination 2. If I had them both back, I had always planned on killing Clear, but I wanted to keep Alex alive. I had a cool twist at the end where it still was, you know, she has a life that saves her life, but then death gets her once she has the kid and Alex is still kind of the torch-bearer. That was my original take, but with the scheduling stuff, we ended up with no Alex. And I’m like, ‘Ah, if I’d known we weren't gonna bring Alex back, I would have not have killed Clear,’ because I love bringing original people back, but I don't like killing them."

A sixth installment is currently in development, with Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks) at the helm, with a script from Jon Watts (Marvel Studios' Spider-Man trilogy), but the film is currently on pause because of the strikes.
